One of the last Still in Cosmo K31 rifles?

Well after an extremely busy but short trip to sea, I decided to visit my favourite surplus store on the way home. And what do I see, But the last one of only two K31 rifles the store brought in. I immediately snatched it up with a couple packs of GP11 and went home. I have only given it a preliminary once over and taken some pics. I will be able to get out and shoot it in a few weeks. But here are the pics

heh wierd, I took it out just to get a good picture, I put it back the way it was. I would love to know who that guy was or what the rest of that info means. Thanks for that. Makes the rifle that much more fun.

The previous owner was born in 1923 and if I'm reading it correctly he was assigned to a local defense unit. The last line is his address but I can't tell what the name of the city is. I'd say the stock is walnut.

European Walnut all the way! Nice, very nice in fact. The Walnut stocks are usually Pre to early WWII weapons. The Beechnut stocks come in during and after the war. I have a similar K31 I found while on a business trip to Switzerland in 2000.

Might be the city of Thalwil in the district of Horgen in the Canton (sort of what they call their City / States / Counties) of Zurich. Only other cities that start with are; Thτnex, Thun, (pronounced Tune) or Thusis. I've been through Thun on trains, never saw the others. Been to Zurich as well as that's where the airport was I was flying into on all the trips to Switzerland.

Update to this thread, I took the rifle to my friends place earlier in the week and fired a few rounds at a rock on a hill and it is smack on with the GP11 ammo. Shoots and operates like a dream. I was also really surprised how clean that ammo is for being surplus.

Now to find a source for reloadable brass and we will have a winner.

Edit: The bullets spark quite a bit when fired at stone in the dark.

nice.. i wish i still had my swiss rifles.

IMHO i think these importers/distributors just release them here/there now with the price jacked up more and more each time.
