cleaning smelly dirty old leather ammo pouches

I have a few mil surp pouches that stink. The worst is a mosin nagant old style pouch that i really like but it smells like rotten cheese. What would you suggest cleaning it with? I was thinking of soaking it in a mild warm mr clean and water solution. Before i do so I would like to get the general opinion.

Saddle soap. Work up a good lather then wipe & rinse. Follow up with mink oil.
We found out what "dealing" with progressive lefties is all about. Our side gives up something, they give up nothing and the progressives come back in a month or a year and want us to give up more... rinse and repeat...

    yep agree.

took more than 2 days to get there will take at least as long to go away.

Saddle soap outside, inside I'd consider Neatsfoot oil.

Neatsfoot is relatively inexpensive and will soak in well to help waterproof the leather, and keep it soft and pliable.
