Bought this 6 years ago for $169, factory refurbished un issued Yugo 59/66, new beechwood stock and barrel.
Soaked the metal in mineral spirits for a week to get all the cosmoline out of the nooks and crannies, what a pain, but it's absolutely de-gunked.
I set the stock out in the warm 112* AZ sun for a week to draw the cosmoline out of the wood, and then soaked it in lacquer thinner for 4 days, finally got it all leeched out. It's amazing how much of that cosmoline soaked into the pores of the wood.
Put a firing pin kit in it from Murrey's Gunsmithing in Texas. 4x scope and dust cover mount from Cabelas, $99.
Applied 3 coats of medium walnut danish oil and 5 coats of clear urethane. Haven't fired it yet, and not to sure how well the scope will hold zero, not the best mounting platform on the dust cover
So, can i be in the SKS club now?
