Not hard, I remember changing one, had to grind a little to find the pin, punched it out no sweat.
oh I can see the pin, both sides.

When I replace the gas piston I like to drive a tapered SS pin through the piston/carrier until it is tight, then (for lack of a better term) smash the smaller tapered end flush with the carrier, smooth both sides flush with a file or dremel, and polish the entire assembly.
