    New Maadi on the way

Ok, so I bought my first AK 2 years ago. It was from Atlantic Firearms and is a Saiga Russian Red. Wow, is she beautiful. Almost too pretty to even shoot. So now, I just ordered 2 Maadi's for my brother and I because I wanted something a little less nice if you will so I can actually shoot it and not worry about scratching it, etc. They are coming from Atlantic Firearms and I'll try and post some pics when they come in. I

I'm not too familiar with these though, so I hope someone more knowledgeable will chime in. Here's a link in the mean time.

    Thanks!!!!

Congrats on the new rifle. Can't wait to read the range report!

Cool, I didn't know they were building Maadi kit guns now.
We found out what "dealing" with progressive lefties is all about. Our side gives up something, they give up nothing and the progressives come back in a month or a year and want us to give up more... rinse and repeat...

Looks like a really nice rifle. I too didn't know there were many Maadi parts available. Must have found a nice stash somewhere.

I guess the prices are going to stay high now for the Maadi's.

My first AK was a Maadi RML Pars intl import. I loved that thing. I wish I still had it, that 20" barrel was mean.

So received these two rifles Friday and it was off to the range. First off, they look beautiful. Great finish and look. After putting about 40 rounds through the first one and making the necessary adjustments, we got it sighted in. Now on to the second one. First 6 shots, dead on. No adjustments needed. Is this odd? Maybe someone with more experience with these rifles can chime in. I only took 1 pic. I'll try and take a few more.

Sounds like the finish is better than the old imports. These put together pretty solid?

I'm certainly no expert but in my humble opinion it's a fine rifle. Maybe someone with a little more knowledge can chime in. I'll get some more pics of it up soon so they can comment.

That is a beautiful rifle built right here in the great USofA using an American made receiver (NDS are top rate) with enough Egyptian parts to call it "Egyptian". That rifle is one of the better of the current generation AK variants, and something anyone could enjoy.

Not familiar with the builder, apparently Velocity, but knowing the owner of Atlantic Arms, he doesn't believe in second rate.

    Now ENJOY!!!

Thanks bud! Was hoping you would chime in with your knowledge! Any preference on ammo? I've only shot Tula and Wolf. Been trying to score some Golden Tiger but hard to find. Curious as to your opinion on Silver Bear, Golden Bear, etc.

My favorites are any of the "Bears". I have had really good luck with any of them. Was surprised at the accuracy of Silver Bear in .308 and that it feeds reliably in .223/5.56x45 in my AR-15s. I would be hard pressed to turn down any of the Bear ammo if the price was right.

Have used Wolf by the ton in my AK variants. I liked the old black/yellow box ammo but the newer stuff is ok. Haven't tried Tula boxed ammo in 7.62x39 but the case of .223 that I bought was pure junk which scares me away from any of their ammo.

Looks like it's in better overall shape than the early 90's imported Maadi I had.

I love all of the Bears. Golden for 7.62 and Silver for 5.45.

My first AK was a used Steyr Maadi that the finish was beat to shit on. The guy I bought it off had replaced the wood stocks with some crappy made black polymer furniture that wasn't marked anywhere. I asked him why he replaced the wood and he said they were just as beat up as the finish on the rifle so he just threw 'em away. (I have always wondered if it was one of the semiauto's that was used in Red Dawn).

Ended up trading it to a friend years ago for a unique early 90's Maddi + cash. The finish on that one is even worse, but it had nice wood furniture.

Enjoy yours, she looks VERY nice!

As for ammo, check out Red Army Standard (made in Ukraine). It is GTG.
Here's to pussy and gunpowder. One to live for, the other to die by.....Goddamn though, I do love the smell of 'em both !!!
