A guy I used to work with had a FN Five7. I shot it. Meh. Unimpressed. That Kel Tec PMR is what I was thinking about as an obvious alternative but like others I have had some disappointments with the brand. Now a Henry Golden Boy in .22WMR would be the cats azz.

Strange, the fateful H&K G-3 served them for Decades! Just goes to show, you can't get rid of 7.62NATO, it will always be around in one way or another!

The number of rifles isn't important. It could be a supplemental issue, being that the majority have already been purchased. But $16K per gun is downright ridiculous, especially for bulk buys. Smacks of a $800 toilet seat....

    Question

Wait a Min. Why would H&K be Bankrupt? The Company that gave us the beautiful G-3 Rifle! The had to rebuild all of those useless .223 L-85 Rifles for the British Army? The Fateful FAL never gave them that Problem. Just shows, you can never get away from 7.62NATO! Except for the Barrels of the G-36 Rifle heating up in Warm Climates, I was not aware H&K was having problems? Funny how the 7.62x39 AK's and the beautiful G-3 and FN FAL Fought, all over the World! Please explain? Paul

HK is doing fine. Ironically HK is taking over the orders for the FRENCH infantry rifle as of today going forward. The French are phasing out the Bullpup FAMAS and adopting the HK 416 (which is the HK gas piston operated 'update' of the venerable M4 platform).

So HK can't go out of business. They just got a massive contract to replace all of France's FAMAS rifles with HK 416s.

The French have a flair for designing the ugliest assed rifles ever! Been like that since the Matchlock up to the FAMAS.

So True! The only thing they ever made worth a Damn! was the MAT-49 .9mm Submachine Gun, However they forgot to make a reliable 30 Round Magazine for it. Paul
