Rotgut could have been worse. Not too bad really. I ate a lot before bed so it wasn't too bad.

I was pretty dehydrated though. When I took a piss the next morning it looked like sweet tea.

Just cracked open a Hoegaarden Belgian wheat beer in honor of TGIF. Might pair it w/ a Dominican Monte Cristo from the humidor....

Hoegaarden is kind of bland to me. I like wheat beers, and it is a good one, it just doesn't have much flavor too it. I like a citrusy heffeweissen better.

Fat Tire is OK. It is made by New Belgium, and I prefer their other flavors such as the heavier 1554.

I haven't drank a lot of Hoegaarden before. It's dry for a weiss beir, w/ a little bitterness in the after-taste. Definitely different from the German weiss brews; still, seems decent enough for a summer quaff.

Don't get me wrong, I like the stuff. Its just a little white for my tastes. I like white beers with more flavor. Otherwise raspberry lambic is great to mix into a really white beer. Two parts white beer and one part lambic makes a wonderful treat on new years eve.

I threw back a few Stells's last night as I cooked for our eldest boys birthday. Our Matt is now 18.

I fixed his favorite, chicken cactitore.
    Returns June 3rd.

Many and I mean many years ago I has some Wild Turkey and Beer chasers! Worst next day of my life! Was at a recent poker game and the guy had some beer with bourbon in it. So I drank some of it and then the memory came back of the many years ago episode and the next morning was not a good one! No more!

Went with Jim Beam this time as the local store had it on sale. My favorite so far is Evan Williams, but Royal Crown is on the list as well.

Saturday on the back porch with an Ave Maria and a Four Roses OBSK at barrel strength I got from
Binny's. Described on the bottle tag as "Rich in spiciness, Full Body"

Been layin low. Just beer for me for the past week or so. I made beef rouladen, braised red cabbage and potato dumplings for supper so I grabbed a 12 of Becks. Spectacular all the way around. I was inspired to cook German after a recent lunch outing with MrK at a German place. We had some schnitzel and a few nice kraut beers. The owner bought us a schnapps for dessert because MrK is a big shot.
