    That's not a "sport", that's a collector's item. A WASR still runs around $500-600 and there are less expensive alternatives too. 7.62x39 is more than it was two years ago, but not too bad - you can afford some range time.

    Collecting is getting a lot more expensive for sure... almost regardless of your focus.

    There just aren't inexpensive milsurps any more - for example.

    But the sport of shooting isn't too bad. In fact, some types of firearms are actually less expensive now than they were several years ago thanks to modernized design and production. Bolt guns are an example. Poly autoloaders is another.

    Now, if we could just get the price of .22LR back down to normal....
