Dan is right, but there are a lot of people that have to use them because the land is too flat.
Illinois comes to mind. The shotgun is a great hunting tool from birds to deer with a load
    of different types and bbl.'s.

There are pics of the M37 I use for deer in other threads. I started with a Sears brand bolt action 12g in 1965. Then after a period of work where I could get no time off (union seniority) I got a used 1100. Also a Mossy with a scope.

I let my Son borrow the Mossy and he fell in love with it.....so I gave it to him.

when my dad goes out to leases his boss owns in Ohio or new york they have to use shotguns. With the sabot technology they have today and good ammo/barrel can be very efficient.

I have buck shot but it is for home defense. I haven't hunted deer in a couple of decades.

I got a Mossberg 930 w/ slug/ breecher barrel I'll be using this up coming season. For deer hunting I use nothing but 12 guage 3" 1 oz. slugs.
