More than likely it was a buffalo round rather than bear. Copper cases haven't been made since about the late 1870s or so. Copper is too "gooey" of a metal to be used for cartridge cases, a lesson learned at Greasy Grass.

No, had a regular fishing pole. Literally drug lures and worms we dug up right in front of trout, and they had no interest. Next time, will invest in a fly pole. Watched several other hikers catch trout with them easily. Still fun and relaxing though.
Noticed I wore the black paint off of the strap on my adirondack holster. Still love the thing. Want to buy a couple more, think its become my prefered hiking settup for carrying.
