Seems like smarter people prevailed and realized the value of the A-10 as a close support aircraft. The retirement has been put on indefinite delay as at least two squadrons have been deployed due to world issues!

Yeah, I couldn't understand what they were going to replace it with that would be so much better.
The Air Farce don't like getting down in the dirt and providing CAS. It's too risky. Someone could get shot flying that low and slow. Besides they aren't sexy air-superiority fighters. There are too many dumbasses with stars on their shoulders that think an F-16 is an acceptable CAS platform.
Eventually, they are going to have to replace them. The airframes and engines are just going to wear out at some point. An ideal replacement would be a plane of similar design and performance.........................then give it to the Marines.
