Bill Nye has finally lost his mind. As a fan of all auto racing I try to picture the Daytona 500 run with all electric cars.
Nye brags they would be faster, but how much faster can a NASCAR racer get? They are already pushing the limits of most race tracks.
Also, the most stupid thing Nye could not imagine is going 500 miles at nearly 200 miles per hour, and how long the pit stops would be. A full recharge even with the most currently (pun intended) available high speed charge would take well over two hours. Guessing a range of 75 miles per charge at the speed expected, that 500 mile race would take days. Imagine a race lasting maybe 30 minutes followed by a 2 plus hour intermission for recharge, or assuming a drop in battery pack, a 10 minute break, what a boring race.
Mr Nye, go back to your lab and leave NASCAR to the professionals.
