American mother, Cuban father, born in Canada to a mother who at the time was a registered Canadian voter. I am not a legal scholar but this is something that should be firmly ironed out before he goes any further on this journey.

The U.S. citizen and immigration website says he is good as long as he was born after December 23, 1952 which he was, and the mother had lived in the U.S. or a territory for at least one year.

He should be good, but it probaly would not hurt to get some sort of official ruling to be proactive.

Also just learned his name until he was 13 was Rafael Edward Cruz, he changed it Ted.

Cruz "won" just by a slim margin. I am reserving judgement until a few more states check in, and keep hoping that out of nowhere someone will emerge that is a true American, founded in the belief that the Constitution is the supreme law of the land, that America comes first before all others and doesn't come over as some screaming self-centered egomaniac.

If slim is 4% compared to the dems at .48%, Ok. I'll agree with you.

    The first said anon. user?
    The second is Iowa politics.
And there are no recounts in the caucus state , AFTER the delegates are given.

MSNBC is reporting delegates are being given by COIN toss in some precincts.

Because regardless of who the dem candidate is, if Cruz is our candidate and the media starts blasting 24/7 that their experts say he is ineligible, it won't matter what the actual law is. So the safest bet is to get an actual ruling on it, so it can not be used as a weapon against him, and the issue becomes a non-starter.

Iowa has a shitty record for voting for who will become the candidate. Cruz winning bothers me because it probably means he will NOT be the candidate. On his status as a US citizen I'm sure he is every bit as legit as the Poser in the oval office right now.

Yeah, nothing like really thinking about and vetting the best candidate. Hitlery won two precincts by coin toss. Real scientific and thought provoking process there.

And one wonders why the Iowa Caucus has problems predicting the winner of the General election.....

My kids were born overseas. As long as one parent is a US citizen that has lived a certain number of years in the US after a certain age, they are natural born citizens (as opposed to naturalized, as immigrants are). So, no issue for him on that. Same for Obama, for all his other faults the dude was born in Hawaii.

You may be on to something. You knew the media would poo poo anything about obama and his issue but
Cruz being on the other side that is all they will talk about for 4 years. That is one reason I really dislike the MSM
they are phakin hypocrites. And hillary is the proof, if this was going on in their enemies ranks this is ALL you would
    hear about.

I have to laugh that hillary is claiming victory based on 6 coin tosses, all won by her (figure those odds). If caucites can't come up with a winner, then a tie it should be.

Sort of poetic justice that there was no true democrat winner!
