TPP signing ceremony takes place in Auckland
New Zealand’s government is due to host the signing ceremony of the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement in Auckland on Thursday, February 4, at 11:30 local time (Wednesday, February 3, at 22:30 GMT).
The agreement will be validated by the trade ministers of the twelve partner countries - Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, the US and Vietnam.
Several demonstrations are expected to take place in the streets of Auckland to protest against the signing of the TPP agreement. The Trans Pacific Partnership has triggered global opposition, especially due to the intellectual property chapter on topics such as drug patent security and digital data protection.
The "standoff" in Oregon and the zika virus scare sure took people's attention away from tpp.
