    Exploding manhole covers?

    Wtf is this shit?
Art teacher killed by an exploding manhole cover after it crashed through her windshield on Boston highway

Caitlin Clavette was killed by a flying manhole cover in Boston Friday as it flew through her car
The vehicle kept rolling for almost half a mile before it came to a stop
Police have described the incident as 'bizarre' and are investigating

I am guessing this isn't due to a buildup of natural gases.

I've seen them flow off from water during a hard rain in Chattanooga along Dodds Ave.

Happens all the time in down town Indianapolis. In fact there was a news crew doing a story about it a year or so ago when a cover blew right in front of them live on the air!

Sadly, my knowledge of sewer explosives is lacking.
