    Picked up my CCW Today.

It had expired. WV now allows any law abiding citizen who can legally own a firearm to conceal without permit. But, if you want to carry concealed in a reciprocating state, you must have your CCW. Now I would have reapplied for it anyways. Just feel better about having it. Was issued yesterday. 2-29-16. Valid for 5 years. Expires 2-29-21.

I understand your sentiments. While I don't live in Canada, my state doesn't trust its citizens to have CCW, so I am left with the alternative; get a non-resident CCW from a state that allows those. Still can't carry in my state, but I can carry in a lot of others.

Congratulations! I recently got my Virginia one and when I get transferred back out to Washington I have about 90 days to renew my Washington state CCW. I need to check on the time limit before I get back!

I prefer CC.....it pays to keep a low profile. There is still a lot of critters that don't have our mind set!

Ok, so yesterday was February 29. Leap year. Good for 5 years. To a date that does not exist. Leap year is every 4 years. Not every 5 years. I pointed that out to the lady at the Sheriffs office. She said that it was no big deal. What I did forget about is that WV is changing addresses. For 911 emergencies. So the address that I have had for 20 plus years is getting changed. Silly isn't it? So when I filled out my application, I forgot to put my NEW address on it. That is going to take some getting used to.

When you correct your address I bet the new card has a new date.

I had not thought of it like that! That is actually pretty funny.

When you guys have a CCW, do you still have to have a background check when you buy a gun, or are you exempt like we are here in AZ

Here in Ga. you present your WCL (weapons carry license) and you are exempt from the BG
check. Hell you are on file.

I think that in WV if you have your ccw after a certain date, then you don't have to do background checks. But I am not certain.

Washington state is exempt. As already stated, you are now on file.
