Millionaires: Raise our taxes to address poverty, fix roads

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — More than 40 millionaires, including members of the Rockefeller and Disney families, are asking to have their taxes raised to help address poverty and rebuild failing infrastructure.

Lol, I doubt if any of those guys pay any taxes at all. What they really mean is to increase taxes on the dying middle class.

Why don't the 40 millionaires just add an additional gratuity to their taxes when their CPA files it for them?

On the other hand, people have been addressing poverty since biblical times, and there are still poor people. Like the "war on drugs" this is a no-win situation. Just makes for good sound-bites.

i'm willing to bet someone could find 40 millionaires with the opposite opinion. however, it wouldn't serve the narrative. rockefellars, disneys, kennedys, all represent the ultra-rich. they like the feel good image this gets them. i know a few millionaires. they work everyday, more hours, and harder, than most of the rest of us.

Millionaire don't mean much these days, could be folks in their 50's with a 401k.

If they really cared they would let an efficient organization use their money to help instead of asking such an inefficient organization as government to tax them more. The real reason they ask this is that they know they can hire lawyers and CPAs to get them out of the tax while the rest of us cannot. Allows them to look charitable without having to actually be charitable with their wealth.

For example, was it a Rockefeller or Rothschild that has a zillion acres they'd have to pay taxes on.......... if they hadn't turned it into a park. You know, a park, for the people.

Over 22 trillion has been spent on the War on Poverty since LBJ started it in the mid 1960's. It is a total failure. The ratio of poor is virtually identical to what it was then. Handing out money for free and not coupling it to work is a fail!
