I have been ordering a couple of these from Amazon each month for a while now. They are $110.00 shipped and have a twenty year shelf life. Not a bad deal.

Have you tried some of the food?

I definitely like having some long term food laying around, mainly for storms or other emergencies, also for long work days that don't allow me to get lunch or dinner. I am going to bookmark this for the future and also share it with my parents who live in the country and can be snow bound quickly. Currently I have a cabinet full of U.S. and Australian MRE's, the Aussie MRE's are much better and don't block you up.
Initial Success or Total Failure
No, I haven't tried them yet. I'm leaving the buckets sealed.
I'm the same way - I have several different kinds of long term food stores - assorted buckets and #10 size containers of eggs, butter powder, milk powder, etc. along with canned and dry goods of all kinds.
I haven't tried any of the long term stuff not wanting to break the seals... I figure, it'll work and it won't matter if it's great tasting or not.
The canned and dry goods are not long-term and I'm now reaching expiration dates - and past for much of my stores. I can't really afford to replace it all right now, so I'm holding on to it - it will be the first consumed should the need arise. I know the spam is OK well beyond the expire date as I've tried it. Other stuff like canned fruit is pretty much crap after a year over...

Just looked - I've got the Augusson Farms 30 day buckets (3) and a couple of Mountain House "Classic Assortment" buckets. Forgot the MRE's that I have for the Guard too.
I've probably got many years worth of food for me singly or a good year for me and my kids of they were to make it here.
I would be able to supplement the food stores with wild game - squirrels, rabbits, deer along with other vermin types like possum, raccoon and armadillo.

Alterboy, that price seemed high to me so I checked and found this: http://www.samsclub.com/sams/augason...004169&veh=sem
$90 at Sam's if you have one around you.
Walmart web site has em too but for a lot more. Sam's has a good selection.
It's amazing just how much "preper" products have grown in sales, selection and availability over the past 10 years.
No longer considered "tin foil hat" to have some preps...

I have a Sams card now. I will go there for more of my preps.
Looks like they still have them and still free shipping.
