Exclamation Haunting Russian WW2 Film from 1985: Come and See!

I can see why the Russians will never stop hating the Germans. However most of the old Soviet Union was nothing but Peasants and Farmers. The only reason Russia ran the Germans out of the old Soviet Union is Numbers, and only Numbers! However this Movie was very hard to watch. They used the SS instead of the Wehrmacht. The story is in Belorussia during the War, told through a 13 Year Old Boy, from a Village who decides to join the Russian Partisans to fight the Germans. He meets a great looking Blonde Russian Girl who is crazy about him, and wants to sleep with him, but all he wants to do, is fight the War! His Family is killed. Fortunely for him, He is lucky to get out of a large Barn the SS puts everyone in, and burns the Barn down. This Kid is a Master at the 1,000 Yard Stare. He sees far too many Horrors for a 13 Year old Kid. He meets up with his Unit, and sees his Girlfriend horribly Raped by the Germans. He should of had a M-43, or M.P.40, or Small Weapon, like a PPSH-41, which is never seen in the Film. But he is carrying around this SVD-40, the whole Film. Only fires it at the End. One hell of a War Film. Makes the Movie Defiance that the Current James Bond made back in 2004 look like a PG Movie. The Movie is a hard NR Rating. Not for People who don't like War Movies! Sadly it is only with English Subtitles, and about 2 and 1/2 Hours long. Worth Watching. It is good to see the SS Officers they Captured at the End beg for their Lives. I got it off Netflix.

Except....It actually IS a realistic, well made film. The fact its a different style of film making and different culture/country also gives it a dream like quality. A HAUNTING dream like quality. When I teach the holocaust to my juniors, I show them the 30 minute church/barn burning scene....Most kids can't believe it. VERY haunting, very realistic. Its hard to explain this film. There is just something very disturbing about it. I don't think we could make a movie like this in America. Plus, many of the extras in the film actually DID survive the type of events shown in it, which also gives it an edge. I also believe the equipment seen in the film was all real captured german stuff too, which again, gives it a disturbing quality.

Awesome film. In my humble opinion, probably better than Schindlers List, which was good, but too polished.
    "What sick, barbaric bastards.

It's one thing to use terrorism to make a political statement, but the wanton mutilation and suffering of innocents? How does that forward your political goals? When done in the name of religion, how does that earn you brownie points with God?

Fuck religious extremism. And especially fuck the "religion of peace." "

So, lagcsocialist supports terrorism AS LONG AS ITS FOR POLITICAL ENDS....

It is 2hr. 22 Min. long! sometimes you have to stop it, it is very hard in some scenes to watch. The Barn Scene could have been taken to be used in the Mel Gibson Movie The Patriot where the British Put all the Towns People in the Church and Burn it. But on a far larger scale. 2 People got out of the Barn. The Kid and a Mother, the SS threw her Child back into the Barn. I though it was strange in a Russian Made Movie to not see any PPSH-41's at all. Paul
