Cool If you need a .22 LR Scope?

These Bushnell variables are on clearance right now. I just put one on order and it is shipping for $97 to my front door. Last week I looked and it was listed for $190 something.

I may get this. I have wanted a scope for my .22 bolt action since I first got it when I was 8. This looks pretty good, especially at half price with free shipping.

So I ordered one of these scopes this morning. This is the first scope I have ever ordered and I plan on putting it on my Remington 581 bolt action .22. It has a grooved receiver to accept scope rings but how do I determine what kind of rings to buy?

According to the specs, it has a tube diameter of 1". So, you just need a set of 1" rings. If you want to be able to still see the iron sights, make sure it is a see-thru mount, otherwise, almost any 1" set of rings should work, as long as it will fit the grooves on your rifle.

Well alismith is mostly right. 1" rings fit the scope but some older .22 rifles have a special small dovetail groove size than say typical scope bases. Let me look around to see if I can find some specs on your 581 vs. typical bases.

Thanks! I have done some looking but I don't think I am using a very good search yet.

Link to a manual for the rifle unfortunately it does not give the dovetail spec.

From Brownell's page just rings for .22 LR rifles. You probably can find something at this link.

Thanks! From the links you gave I have some good options. My scope is supposed to arrive on Friday so I am going to wait to see what the documentation that comes with the scope says, if anything. If not, I will probably order a set from Brownells, I think they had the best prices but I will check again before I order.

Remember, with scope rings you need them tall enough to keep the scope from touching the barrel or receiver.

That is my biggest concern. Here is a page I found using the links you posted that helps to ensure the rings are tall enough. http://www.brownells.com/GunTech/Rin....htm?lid=11213

Well mine got here today. Send Fed-Ex ground but as it got to GA it was transferred to the US Post Office system for delivery. Came in a bubble wrap Envelope and was stuffed in the mailbox with the rest of the mail. Took it out, first impressions are it is quality. I was able to chage the eyepiece to focus the cross hairs. Haven't had a chance to mount it or do any zooming and use the side parallax focus knob on the left side.
