fathers day gift from my wife

I was complaining about how cumbersome my side by side shotgun was in my truck for nuisance animal control on my friends farm. So she bought me this, Savage Rascal single shot .22. What a dinky rifle. It will come in all sorts of handy. Fires .22 short long and long rifle. The peep sights are actually really good.

Just thinking its also going to be super handy when I go checking traps with my friend. A tiny sling and I wont even know its there when carrying other gear.

My son has a Savage CUB rifle (.22 single shot bolt action). It fires .22LR and .22 shorts, it's got peep sights and it's a tack driver. VERY nice rifle... light and accurate.

Great Rifle! But can you get them in Real Calibers! Not just the Boy Scout Training Caliber? I mean 7.62x39, .308Win., 30.06, 7.62x54R, 8mm Mauser? .22 is just too small. You can never have too large of a .30 Caliber.

It would be really neat to have this rifle chambered in 17 hmr. Any of the large calibers would be way too much. The rifle only weighs a couple of pounds at most and is a little longer then your fore arm. I bet it is lighter then my 1911. I was looking at again it this morning and realized its made in Canada. That's a pleasant surprise. I didn't thing any firearms were manufactured here anymore.

Plus the whole purpose of it for me is to be as compact as possible. .22 short will be its main diet.

    LMAO!!
We found out what "dealing" with progressive lefties is all about. Our side gives up something, they give up nothing and the progressives come back in a month or a year and want us to give up more... rinse and repeat...

    Awesome gift!

In addition to being a handy varmint gun, you may find it works well as a training tool for children of an appropriate age.

Here is a recent review done on it:

"I'm fucking furious, I'm violently angry, and I like it. If you don't know what that feels like then I feel bad for you"

Mine (his) is the older model without the "accu-trigger" or whatever they call it.
