    Bark like an Egyptian.

    [IMG][/IMG]

Hope this damn thing works...posting pics lately has been shit.

1951 Egyptian contract FN49 in 8mm. Got it a few weeks ago locally. Been on my radar for a few years, but never found a nice one.

I've been busy lately but will get to try it out friday.

What Adam said - beautiful furniture. This makes me miss the Argentine Navy FN49 I had.

woods good but left rear of receiver has some pitting. that's the game you play when you buy C&R guns.

That is beautiful and interesting! What is it? I see Garand influences in there.

The FN 49 as Bishop pointed out the predecessor to the FAL. They came in 8 mm, .30-06 and I think there were even some in 7.62 NATO.

and 7x57 . Argentine Navy guns had 20rd mags. your hand would get tired feeding that damn ting with 5rd strippers . Theres DSM/Sniper models too.

Nothing near a garand. in fact the system is superior in all senses. Of course its a few years later .

    pssssst. skorpion pointed it out......

The design in itself was ready to go prior to WW2, once things heated up the plans/prints were squirreled away.

Production costs would have bankrupted Germany even if they did get a hold of it.

sun wasn't out today so i got around to shooting this finally.

just dicking around off hand standing/sitting with 50's yugo 8mm this is a decent shooter. everything on target within a 10" ring at 100 yards . Recoil is the same as a FAL .

Tried a few rounds of 80's yugo sniper ammo . definitely felt the recoil difference.

    1. it gets hot fast.
    2. Using strippers is OK, you just have to be very aggressive doing it .
    3. it's hard to shoot good when bullshit like buckflies, mosquitoes and bees are all over the place. Which is why i only like late fall/winter for shooting now. bugs and heat make for a shitty day.

That is a great looking rifle. Sounds like it shoots great, too.
