Anyone use the post office for mailing a handgun?

I am trying to sell two sigs, and always use UPS, even though they screw me and charge $60-70 bucks. I have heard of people shipping 'machine parts' through the post office.....Anyone ever do this? I mean, ship to an FFL, but just ship 'machine parts'?

Only dealers can ship a handgun through USPS and it has to be going to another dealer
What part of "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED" do you not understand?

Hmmm.....I do not have good luck. I know people who have done it, and shipped to dealers....I just do not think I would get away with it. I HATE being screwed by UPS.

I'd look at Fed-Ex next day or UPS Red Label (overnight).

I don't know if "properly marking" a UPS package is "required" by UPS or by federal law.

Since a firearm (by itself - with no ammo) is just metal parts, and since even the serial numbered receiver is just a metal part (shipped via an FFL), I can't imagine why UPS needs to know or care what those metal parts are.

Note though, this is only my opinion. I'm not a lawyer and I may be 100% wrong.

Yeah, was just curious. Not sure why businesses can but we cannot. Gives ups a monopoly. Oh well. I do not sell handguns that often, and I will have on less thing to worry about.

I have never done such a thing. If I did though....I would have been worried about losing the package, and then either being out of the parts. Or having to explain why the parts needed to be found or so expensive.

I do have a neighbor who owns a shipping business that uses UPS and FedEx. I have used them to ship parts before. I also plow their driveway in the winters. So I can't really offer any sound advice.

I have done it. Just make sure it is insured for TWICE then the gun is worth. so if they lose it. you win.

You're nuts if you try to send a handgun through the mail. Is it worth losing your rights to ship one?

If there is an FFL that you know, ask him what he charges to ship a handgun. Pretty sure it isn't as much as you shipping it via Fedex or Ups. Most ups shipping hubs won't ship a handgun if you aren't a FFL (FFL to FFL). They make their own rules, independent of the Federal Govt.
Call it "machine parts" or whatever you want, but if it's a pistol receiver with a serial number, it's a handgun.
It is a felony for a non-licensee to ship a handgun via USPS, but I'm sure you already knew that. Long guns are OK.

I shipped a handgun USPS via my FFL. I always thought you had to do UPS 2nd day air but learned FFLs can do USPS. The insurance was killer though, about $70, but they didn't loose my shit.
