Paul Ryan Blinks: Will Allow Vote on Gun Control Next Week

Breitbart News previously reported that a number of Senate Republicans are ready to support gun control as well. Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) observed that mixing the language of gun control with the language of fighting terrorism has yielded GOP support from Senators like Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Kelly Ayotte (R-NH), Pat Toomey (R-PA), and Susan Collins (R-Maine), among others.

For his part, Ryan continues to stress that House gun control has to contain “a provision [protecting] due process for people who may mistakenly be added to [no fly or terror watch] lists.” But it is important to note that Omar Mateen was not on such a list, so gun control based on such lists would have been impotent to stop him.

It is equally important to note that San Bernardino attackers Syed Farook and Tashfeen Malik were not on a such a list either. This makes it difficult to ascertain how more list-based gun control is going to stop such attackers.

Mateen was contacted by dhs several times before he finally went off. Even after his own fellow employees reported his comments to dhs, dhs did nothing. Dhs, keeping America safe.

The vote will not pass and will expose the anti-2nd congress critters. It may not be a bad strategy for the fall elections.
We found out what "dealing" with progressive lefties is all about. Our side gives up something, they give up nothing and the progressives come back in a month or a year and want us to give up more... rinse and repeat...

This might work, but we have to be careful that Dims don't replace the Repubs that are going to be voted out.

Nothing good will come of this. Ryan is a sellout.

All gun owners should be paying attention and if they vote for no one else, they must go vote for the person running against those who vote against our second amendment as well as a couple of other amendments that have been ignored lately.

That was about my feeling when I heard about this. It makes me want to go buy another gun before my name ends up on some secret list that I can't apeal on. Sounds to me like a sneaky way to take away due processs, inocent until proven guilty and, you second amendment rights away all in one bill.

It must be nice to have armed guards to carry your guns for you. I say eliminate the secret service and prohibit security for any government position. Elected officials do not have fear of the people who elect them.

Really? I thought this shit had to go through the senate first? The senate already voted NO!

Since yesterday the rule of law no longer applies to the fedgov.
