    Question New Ruger 10/22 model?

So what do you guys think of this new Ruger 10/22 Target Tactical 22lr?

    This is COOL!

I'm in the market for a SHTF small game hunting gun.
This 10/22 is a new factory version I have never personally seen before until today.
I think I really like it!

It's a pound and 1/2 heavier than the standard 10/22 but it sure looks like it has some accuracy potential.

Coming in right around $430....what do ya think?
    Anybody got one already?

    Also.....
I have not shot a 22 in forever and a day.

What would you recommend as far as sights or scopes or red dots or whatever on something like this?
It "is" just a 22....so I'm not looking for some $800 sight or anything....

This is one I have been wanting for my daughter she has finally outgrown her Davy Cricket and is ready for a larger rim fire.Og course she wants pink still but I can go this model.Ruger should have always made the 10/22 with a bull barrel.I just wish they would switch to a steel receiver as a standard feature.

That looks EXACTLY like my 10/22 that I built about 5-6 years ago... LOL!

Are there actual problems with the receiver?
Or is it that you just prefer steel?
There seems to be a lot of 10/22 fans out there.
    Just curious....

The new receiver is steel? I've never had, or even seen problems with anyone that I know's 10/22. Odd...

Edit: just learned to read...Never Mind!

    K.I.S.S.

I like a plain 10/22 with at least a half dozen butler creek steel lipped mags, and perhaps a nice folding stock with a 4X+ scope.

What did it cost to build, is $430 a savings?

I know I stripped my receivers scope mount threads in short order. It's not like it was my first time putting a scope on a rifle and I torqued the crap out of them. Steel screws + soft aluminum receiver = stripped threads. Luckily it wasn't too hard to drill and tap new holes.

Anyway, I like it. I know the first things I did to my 10/22 was change the stock and put a bull barrel on it. There's so many aftermarket parts for those things and they're so easy to work on everyone should have one. Just beware, before you know it, you'll have a thousand bucks into it.

There seem to be some differences in the production. My 10/22 is an older early 1980's version and my cousin has the same model but his is a later 1989 run.The v-block in his never remains tight even with locktite this causes his barrel to wobble. My uncle bought this for his son before he was even old enough to shoot and it is only now we have discovered this problem and this is one of those things that is on the back burner for fixing.

Mine is perfect and well over 10k rounds since I have owned it.I think a steel receiver with the Ruger integrated scope mounts would make for better accuracy overall.I know just a .22 but they are putting a lot of effort into improving some older designs.

And this too has happened to mine.I used to have a scope on mine and then wanted to work on my iron sights shooting so I removed the scope and base. Well after many more thousands of rounds I wanted to take my son out to start learning before I bought his own .22 and I put the base back on and over tightened the screws.I need to just redrill and tap for new holes.

I can't fully remember now. I probably paid $150-$200ish for the Ruger. Got the Adams & Bennett .930 bull barrel and stock as a combo from the Sportsmans Guide or somewhere for like $150. The mag release and the Weaver rail were probably another $50. So, 5-6 years ago, it still cost me $350-$400+.

All in all, $430 seems like a good price. If it has a better trigger (which I didn't upgrade) than stock, it's a GREAT deal IMHO...

The Ruger website says it has a target trigger too.

I'd have to feel it to know for sure, but I didn't add the bipod cost in my equation. My Harris bipod was probably $50, so in all, my "build" was more expensive than this factory model.

So you're saying you are OK with this rifle?
Any down sides you can see?
