New Photo Thread - builds you still have

    Bulgy.jpg

I guess you have to click on it to enlarge...

This is one of my builds from back in the day when the kits were cheap. It's a Bulgarian AK-74 that I built on an Armory USA 1.5mm receiver. Great carbine. Furniture is K-VAR (still a bad word here) plum set. Russian Bayo and sling.

I miss the days of $50 Rommy kits... Always got a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment after demilling the kit and completing the build.

    Let's see yours!

Is this only for AKs or for any build?

I tried to push the envelope, but found that it was stationery.

Have you heard about the new corduroy pillows? They're making head lines!

I didn't build it exactly (SAR-3) but I did refinish it in O.D. green KG Gun Kote. Still have it, (in point of fact it is my only AK now). Why, because it is 5.56 chambered.

I still have a Romanian parts kit (from the cheap parts kit days before the barrel ban) waiting to morph into a complete rifle. I need to get on that.

Schutz - nice job on the refinish. I like the furniture too. I'm sure you have a bunch of mags for it.

Yes, more than I will ever wear out. I think I have 16 of the Weiger mags and probably that many Bulgarian mags as well.

Israeli Light Barrel FAL, built this one and ... yes the same O.D. Green Gun Kote finish.

Built these two AR types, the bottom is a Pistol. I still have all of these.

    Still needs a muzzle device.

I did this a few years ago. I was going as retro as I could get but I could not get a triangular hand guard. The handle is also detachable as that was all that was available, but it shoots very well.

    Nice

I would be tempted to Magpul it up with the UBR stock, streamlight tlr-1 hp, and a fixed power prism scope like a primary arms 5x, and maybe the 60 round drum.

I never built a Kalashnikov... and I don't consider assembling an AR-15 to be a "build", so I have nothing to contribute.

Here's a retro AR I "built" for my younger son. He prefers "full size" rifles while I prefer carbines. To each his own I guess.....

(click pic for MUCH larger version)

It's mostly right except for the lower which is a Bushmaster and not the "retro" (A1/E1) type.

The stock is correct (the shorter one with the trapdoor) as is the pistol grip without the finger notch thingy, NOS triangle handguards, a 3 prong duckbill and even a NOS sling date marked as 1962.

The bayonet is just an ordinary "M8" or whatever the number is... but the blade has the same greenish color to it like the upper does, so I got it because it sorta "matched".

(OH edit to add): The mag is a 20 round part - the old kind with the metal (aluminum) follower, and it's stamped "Colt" and it has some kind of long number on it (a military contract number maybe?)

Great builds- quite a variety. And assembled AR's are fine - we can call them builds. I sold all but one of my AR builds...

Here's a "mod" - Saiga 308. It's a bit ugly with the AR type stock but it works good.

And here's the one AR that I assembled left in my collection:
