    Any woodworkers here?

What sort of material can I use for reusable patterns? I saw a video in which a chick took an Adirondack chair patterns and glued it to some sort of flexible material and then cut along the lines. Then, she was able to use the patterns to trace along them onto the wood for the chair parts. Any ideas?

seeing as she cut them with a knife id be willing to bet she is using foam board. not very rugged for long term use, but easy to work with.

personally, if i were doing that many of them that i thought i needed reusable templates, id cut them out of a sheet of underlayment preferably(link one), or some old paneling or masonite if thats what was laying around. but this would require tools to work.

for something easy to make, like with just a knife in the video, id go with coroplast. thats what ive always heard it referred to as, although i think thats a specific brand name, but its corrugated plastic sheeting like is used for yard signs. (link 2) should take abuse a lot better than foam board but still be workable with just a knife.

    Sheet polyethylene should work.

I have done this. I would suggest going to an Arts and Crafts store and look for the large sheets of paper hard board? I don't recall what they call it. Easy to cut with the blade.

You could also use this. UHMW SHEET/PLATE - BLACK (REPROCESSED). You can get very thin. I have used it in 1/8" for skid plates for my atv.

It depends on where you live.
I am semi rural, and picked up discarded sheet metal from a forced air furnace plenum, traced my patterns on the galvanized steel and cut them out with metal shears.
