The hearing protection act? love it.

In "The Godfather," a Mafioso prepping young Michael Corleone to assassinate some rivals gives him a pistol for the job. After firing a bullet into the cellar wall, Michael complains, "Ow! My ears!" His friend says, "Yeah, I left it noisy. That way, it scares any pain-in-the-ass innocent bystanders away."

The Corleones would have had little interest in a bill that would allow gun owners to obtain silencers without the federal permits required since 1934. Some people like the deafening boom of a gunshot. Most shooters don't, and the National Rifle Association is pressing for enactment of the proposed Hearing Protection Act, which also has the endorsement of Donald Trump Jr., an avid trophy hunter.

    I like this act.

Maybe with the incoming administration, we can get rid of most of the useless gun laws the liberals forced on us.

If something like this passes would we need to keep the tax stamp and forms?

Probably not. This bill treats suppressors just like a standard firearm with a NICS check only at the time of purchase. I also read that this bill would reimburse folks who bought a suppressor tax stamp after October 2015, when this bill was originally introduced.

It might be a good idea to keep the forms and stamps you already have, just in case this bill were ever to be repealed. Then, if that happened, you'd have proof you paid all necessary fees before the bill went into effect. If you didn't have it, you might be forced to reapply and pay for it again.

It never hurts to keep things just in case something goes wrong later on.

Thanks guys, I would keep them for sure to cover my own rear end. Maybe frame them as relics of a time passed if this goes through. I was mostly curious because of the need to tell the ATF of everytime you move residence. It would be more than awesome if this goes through, and awesome if all stamps and requirements for them just went away. Being unconstitutional and all.

Most Dimocrats, all socialists and liberals, don't let that bother them, as it is.

If this law passes, getting a suppressor would make a lot of sense for home defense and hopefully increased demand would bring prices down.

If passed, the law would have no effect here in the emperor's state.

Hate to break it, but the NFA is legal per the Justice Roberts ruling on obamacare, where if the feds tax you for something, it is legal. The original ACA penalty for not signing up was deemed illegal, but call it a tax and it is now legal. Same would unfortunately hold for the 1934 NFA, it's a tax, therefore per Roberts, it is legal.

Yes but there's a dilemma here that should've been brought into court after the FOPA. Since we can no longer pay the tax and register new machineguns, isn't the law null and void, since the NFA was ruled constitutional under the taxing authority. I still don't understand why the GOA, NRA 1rst amendment foundation haven't sued over this. Perhaps with a couple more Constitutionalists on the bench it will be ripe to have that part of the FOPA thrown out as unconstitutional. Thanks again Reagan for saving us from machineguns that would cost what they should......
