Question Looking for a War film for the 1990s

I recall seeing it in the late 1990s, A U.S. Army Unit in the Pacific in WW2, is tasked to rescue POW's from a Japanese Camp. I cannot recall the name of the Film, I had though it was the Thin Red Line but wrong Film. Great Film.

The only one I can think of is The Great Raid with James Franco and Benjamin Bratt, but it was released in 2005
What part of "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED" do you not understand?
