Anybody been to a gun show lately?

I just wonder if there are still insanely long lines to get in. Once upon a time you could step out of your car and, within ten minutes, be inside the arena. The last time I attempted to go to one, there was a line 100 yards or more and they were not in single file.

I'm stationed at Panama City, FL and we have a gun show at the fair grounds about once a quarter. Never had any issues with lines and such. Last one was a little over a month ago. One thing I did notice was there wasn't a single Mosin Nagant or SKS anywhere for sale. Not even any bubbafied versions. Have you noticed that at all?

Not in a few years. It was crowed but not intolerable. My beef got to be there were no deals to find.
Everybody has the web and all of them know what the others are selling for.

Yeah the web has sorta made gunshows less than necessary. I used to get mass quantities of ammo at them, but now I can have it shipped to my door

We get LOTS of hunting rifles and shotguns at our gun shows for good deals but the milsurps seem to be rising rapidly in value.

last year i went, drooled over $$$ C&R pistols i've been after but couldnt bring myself to spend $1k+ on each of them .

I usually try to be within the first 20 people in line . breeze through looking at everything fast since theres only a few things im after and most shit is boring. do we really need 30+ AR vendors? do another lap then im out . seriously though, its typically a 4+ hour round trip - time/gas vs me going online and paying shipping for what i want is usually faster and cheaper.

Smaller shows around here, and there are at least one every weekend within 60 miles of my home, my driving limit for smal shows, usually don't have a line of more than a couple of people unless you get there a minute before the doors open.

Our once every two month really large, usually nice show sometimes has a line around the building, and sometimes you can walk right up to the pay-window. Pure luck as to line length unless again you get there at show open time.

Ammo prices are usually like Altarboy said, why lug a case to your car when for the same price or lower you can have it shipped directly to your home. Firearms run the range from "are you nuts" to "big dreamer aren't you"! Of course every now and then you can get lucky, and checking people who walk in trying to sell their firearms usually will land your best deal.

Been at the November, December, January, February, and March shows here. Long lines at every one of them except January. The January show was a ghost town and ironically, it had the biggest variety of guns that I've seen at a gun show in a long time. It was extremely nice surfing the aisles without having to bob and weave thru hordes of bubbas. The February and March shows were super packed - about a 20-30 min wait to get in.

I went to one last month, it was a big one on the south side of ATL. Parking lot was packed, I got there at about 1 in the afternoon. Not much of a line, maybe 5 people in it. Inside there were a lot of people but not bad to weave through them. Prices were ... are you shitting me kind of high. I saw all the usual C&R stuff at huge prices, not one M1 Garand for less than $1,000. Mosins were in the $350 range. SKS rifles in the $500 plus range. AR15 types could be found at good prices and even a few Sub 2000 Keltecs at reasonable prices were around.

Isn't that something. We used to get near perfect Mosins for 79.00 and sks' also.
As for Mforgeries, they have gotten quite reasonable. My son has built a few for himself and friends. He even built a Sten, an Uzi, and a sweet MCR.

Ive spent a good percentage of my life in gun shows.
    Until I moved here.

California has the worst gun shows Ive ever seen. Horrible...I miss the crossroads shows in Phoenix, or Dallas...

The best Gun Show I ever saw no long exists! In 1984, while visiting my German Army Friend who lived in Essen in Northern Germany Near the British, Him and I, and his Father junped into his Car, and went to the famous Dortmund Gun Show. The only show I ever saw bigger was the Shot Show in Orlando in 1986. There were more Mauser's there than I have ever seen in one Place. I got a Holster for my Wartime P.38 and some Magazines. This Show was fantastic.
