    Taurus 1911

I traded for this pistol very recently. It was in the box never fired but was sold as used and i couldn't pass on it. People have said these are are lower in quality then other 1911's.

Certainly not in accuracy. I took it to the range today and this pistol was hitting bullseye with the first mag. I was using Winchester white box. Damn i never knew this ammo shot so good. I even used the cheap imitation colt mags from Taiwan and it fed flawlessly.

    ;) I would hit it.

Over the years I have had good results from Taurus. If you have a problem ever they will make it good even if your not the original owner. I'm happy to hear you like it.

I'm just ploding along with my old go to. My guest gun.

Got's me a Taurus PT 1911 as well. Bought it used, and aside for a little issue with the right side of the ambi-safety staying put, I haven't had any issues with it. One of the most accurate of my 1911s by far, even though I paid a pittance (in 1911 terms) for it at $480 OTD. Came with one Kimber Tac-Pro mag and it seems to like those, so when I carry it, that's what I carry it with, two other Kimber mags.

The only thing I replaced was the hammer. Don't much care for gun locks, be they internal or external, so it had to go. Cool thing is, the replacement is just a drop in. It won't mess with the internals if you decide to get rid of the factory hammer and go with something more appropriate.
How do you compromise with someone when their idea of compromise is to give them what THEY want?

I bought one the first year they released them. I've had no issues with quality, and like yours, has shot very good being a "cheap" 1911. Only issue I had wasn't even the gun, but one of their magazines. Works flawlessly with my 8 rd Wilson Combat and 10 rd Chip McCormick mags....fmj and hollow points. It is now in the process of getting Gun-koted.

I've had mine for about two years and haven't had any problems, other than having to learn how to shoot with the Heine straight 8 sights it came with, once i got used to a different sight picture i got pretty accurate with it.I read a lot of bad stuff about the Taurus 1911(ambidextrious safety falling off mostly) on the web but haven't experienced any of it. I did my own torture test sort of, by not cleaning it for about 600 rounds, ran fine. That is a good price,i think mine was about $650 with tax NIB

    Pics as promised.

    Before:

    After:

Pardon the crappy whiteout jobs I did for serial #. I'm digging the new color scheme big time! Only issue I have is that the guy blacked out the white dots of the sights...so I guess I'll have to find some liquid whiteout or a white paint pen, until I get 'em switch out with night sights.

I'm also wanting to get different grips and new screws, so all suggestions/ideas are welcome, but I'm prob going to keep them black to stay with the color scheme. Local shop I go to has the usual Hogue grips (regular, palm swell, and finger groove). What say you?

Oh ya, almost forgot to mention; I was told by buds who work at my fun store that the guy who koted it for me was impressed by how good the slide to frame fit was and how well made it was. So, that's second compliment I've gotten on my Taurus. First was from guy that my dad and I know, who is a sponsored shooter by Springfield, also on how well built it was and how good of a factory trigger it had.

Can't wait to put some rounds through it next week

Congrats on the Taurus Alice. I've looked at a lot of them at shows and they all seemed well made. Never bought one or shot one so it's good reading the reports here in this tread by those that do own and shoot them. Will it make me go out and get one, no as I'm not into 1911's anymore.

WOW. That is nice, esspecially with the Taurus billboard removed from the slide, if you don't mind saying what did it cost?

Check this guy out, he had some nice ebony wood grips that would look nice on the gun

Thanks. Still says Taurus on the left side, but now blackened out with rest of the slide. It cost me $185. I was very close to sending it to bearcoat.com because of GPWASR's recommendation and seeing the work they did on his taurus 1911, but went with the local guy (who does it on the side) cost half as much, but did take almost two months to get it back. BUT, if it turns out the guy's quality isn't up to par it'll be going to bearcoat.com ASAP. Those are some nice grips that guy has, but just a tad exotic for my tastes....want something more functional/rugged. His grips I'd put on a safe queen or slicked up 1911.
