    does your annual ammo cost exceed the cost of your gun?

    for instance....
    i bought a winchester model 50 for 500.00.
    i shot 2000.00 worth of 12ga thru it last year.
    how about you?

    Just a for instance, one SAR-1 purchased when they were $300 delivered. Have fired well over 13,000 rounds through it.

    The only gun I shoot a lot is a .45 Ruger Vaquero that I paid $440 for about 15 years ago. I shoot about 6000 rounds a year with this gun. Brass lasts forever, I buy primers in bulk, shoot cheap cast bullets, and have a lot of powder on hand. All I shoot is one load, i.e., a 255 grain RFN with 9 grains of Alliant Unique. So my estimate is I shoot about $500 dollars of ammo in this gun a year.

    At today's prices it does not take long to shoot more in ammo than the purchase cost of the weapon.

    thats why i cast/reload for everything except .22 and 12ga.

    Well you have to have somewhere to shoot and i had to drop my club membership.
    I haven't fired a round in 3+ years. Saves on ammo and cleaning
