    Shot an oldtimer today

A couple of shooting buddies gave me a call about having a little fun today
Weather was about perfect and they had some time so over they came
One of them brought this Mossberg .22 bolt action
I thought it was pretty cool so I snapped a few shots to share with you guys
Only thing close to a model number was 46 B (a)
It had a Mossberg microclick peep sight which would pivot to the side so you could go straight iron if you wanted
I don't know if that was an accessory or original but was fully adjustable as was the rear sight
It was a pretty good size tube fed and a great shooter
His dad bought in Jan 1946 after getting out of the marines serving in the pacific
It's one he got started out on when he was around six years old
That's about all I know about it other than the experience of shooting it
    Here's the pic's:

That's a pretty neat old shooter. Looks like it needs a little TLC, though.

I think he is planning on doing just that
He's been taking care of his dad long distance for a while now and just got hold of it again
He said that big scratch just happened lately while moving some things here
I guess he ran a rag down the barrel and dust actually blew out of it
He was shooting it today before tearing it down and cleaning it up

Well I am glad you meant a rifle and not one of your buddies. I like the way it looks, used but functional is almost
more than I can claim at the moment.
But what is the tab on the front sight ramp?

I have a hunch it is to adjust the front post but I'll have to ask him
First I noticed that to be honest

An interesting looking old-timer. I hope your friend treats it gently in "cleaning it up".
