Public Ordered to Shelter in Place Amid 'Real World Security Incident' at Travis Air Force Base

Officials on Wednesday are responding to a "real world security incident" at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield.
A Facebook post around 3:30 p.m. advised people to avoid the area so emergency responders can do their jobs. People were also urged to shelter in place and asked to lock doors and windows.
The facility's main gate was closed, Fairfield police wrote on Twitter, and social media users reported an alleged active shooter situation. Officials have yet to confirm that detail.
The base is asking people to follow their updates on Facebook, where an official post from Travis Air Force Base officials says:
Anguished Politicians Respond to Deadly SF Shooting
"Travis Air Force Base is currently responding to a real world security incident. More details will be released as they become available. The public is being asked to stay away from the base to ensure emergency responders can respond accordingly."
Scenes from an NBC-affiliate chopper showed people walking around at the base, a sprawling campus located in Solano County. Some people were holding hands as they were being escorted to safety, and police cars dotted the parking lot.
No further information was immediately available.

It's way past time for more common sense gun laws.

Not the first time a base has been put on alert for an "active shooter" when in fact it was either a drill in progress or the preps for a drill. With the public fear of anyone with a gun (imagine that, a military person with a firearm!) these false reports will continue.

Doesn't have to be on a military base either. Not too long ago in Indy a poor soul with an umbrella was reported as person with a rifle on a college campus. Pathetic to say the least.

I was almost shot TWICE by the cops in my life time for carrying things that were NOT firearms. Once I was carrying a lightstand

In both instances the cops were yelling "Put the gun down!" and I'm looking around wondering where the dude with the gun is......

Well, to be fair, that first pic looks like a silencer, with dangerous looking muzzle attachments, on a menacing-looking light stand and the second pic looks like one of those dreaded, three-legged, assault pods ISIS jihadis carry around all the time. I think those things can launch personal nuclear missiles at nearby targets.

You've got to be more careful carrying things like that...especially around liberal cops.
