    Slings mounts and such

for the AR. What about the buffer plates and should I be a fan
    of the 1 point sling?
While no one ever listens to me,
I am constantly being told to be quiet.

I've got a bunch of USGI surplus slings (they've got a military contract number and date on them) and they're in plastic bags that say the usual something like "sling, rifle, one each".

If you click this pic to zoom in, you can see the sling detail. It's pretty simple and rugged. I'm not a fan of those fancy "tactical" slings that take a PhD to figure out.

    BTW, what's a "buffer plate"?

opps buffer tube end plate is what I was thinking. Well I have a 1903 type sling on it at the moment.

    Or buttstock collar tube lock.

I barely go out into the woods as much as I used to you as a kid, so I'm not using a standard two point sling nearly as much.
But with my AR. When deer hunting I like the one point sling because as the rifle is on your chest when you hold it if you let go it tends to stay right there .
I have a buffer tube plate that has a single loop on the left side and that is all I have needed for a few years.
With this you can get a one point sling that can also be used as a two point sling if you suddenly need it to be used as such.

Thanks. I ordered a buffer tube plate that you can mount a sling on the left or right side.

I was in a hurry today and didn't have time to comment. So I just posted the video I thought was informative.
I tried a one point, but didn't care for it. I now have a two point Magpul I'm very happy with. Kinda pricey, but very well made.
A length of para-cord would be better than nothing, but there's a lot of good choices out there. Just gotta find what works best for you.
I kinda feel a sling is like a holster for your rifle. I don't always need it or use it. But nice to have the option.
