Ithaca 37 Action Locks up after firing 1st shot

ithaca model 37 deerslayer 12 ga, for PARTS or REPAIR, first shot will fire, then action locks up. bore and over all gun looks to be in good condition, 2 3/4 & 3 inch shells, front fiber optic sights.
Looking at a model 37 that is cheap. Any ideas on what the problem might be?

Hell, for the price I could just use the barrel on my other 37...

By "lock up" I take it the action won't unlock to extract and eject the fired shell? What does it take to "unlock" it, disassembly?

I concur with HK. A detailed disassembly would A, guarantee its clean and B, tell you if any parts are missing, broken, etc.
