Thanks. So were these imported by SA in this configuration, imported and reconfigured or did SA build these in house? I seem to recall seeing a SAR48 in one of my old Gun Digest editions with a thumbhole stock and no muzzle device. Given those features or lack there of I presumed they were imported to comply with the 1994 AWB.

The ad says it comes with 10 metric mags. I know you can use metric in an inch pattern so wasn't sure if that meant this was metric or not?

Ok, found this article so it looks like this was probably made by Imbel in this configuration and imported by SA. I presume it's metric as I don't believe Imbel did anything in the inch pattern.

Here's one with a starting bid of $1,750 with no reserve that didn't even get one bid?

all the crap was based on the 89 ban .

that's why the weirdo model # changes on most of everything.

SAR48 is a really nice rifle.

As for Imbel not making inch pattern, they did make a few as I have one in STG-58 configuration. Metric mags are supposed to work but I was never able to get any to lock in. Picked up a bunch of inch mags back in the day when nobody wanted them.

No, not yet anyway. I'm still not sure what a fair price would be plus I've bought close to $3,500 in toys the last six months or so. With Xmas coming up in what, 6 weeks I think I need to hold of on any more "me" purchases.

True but compared to my 1918A3 BAR it's probably not bad.

After having mine and my 1918a3 out at the same time 2 weeks ago shooting them. I will say a HB Fal is fine shooting supported from the bipod but unsupported you can really feel the front end heaviness.

of course, anyone that doesn't like it can do some push ups.
