You got my best wishes.

I have not done it, but I know more than a few PEs. Most of the people I know took a refresher course to brush up on the advanced math, formulas and just to get used to answering understanding and answering the questions as they will be asked on the test. The studying is a good start, but you need to have a plan on what to study. Good luck!

I took mine after the traditional 4 years.
Since I'm a Civil, I found that the Civ Eng Ref Manual covered most of the items on the test. One thing that was a curveball for me was groundwater hydraulics, not hard but it was not covered well in the CERM.
Good luck on yours.
well, I took the exam today, now the wait beings. I feel good about it.
MY oldest son got his PE about 10 years ago, it was the step he needed to cement his career in engineering. He said it was a lot of work to get to that point.
He specializes in designing mechanical systems for large data centers and works all over the world, He is the senior mechanical engineer for a 1.5 million sq.ft data center Apple is building in east mesa, az.
I wish you the all best in reaching this level in your career
Good to hear. If you feel good about it I am sure you will be fine.

thanks for the kind words. Its a 6-8 week wait to find out the results.
Damn that seems extreme. But life is what it is. What are you wanting/going to do?

I am betting that is because the test has to be hand graded. Getting to the right answer is only part of the issue with that test, the process used to get to the right answer is also a big part of the exam. Computers are good at a lot of things, but looking at the process which is different for everyone is harder for a computer to do.

The longest exam I have had to take is 4 hours. Technically it was 12 hours of exams to qualify Engineering Officer of the Watch on a nuclear aircraft carrier, but it was split into 3 4 hour exams and 2 2 hour oral boards. I would expect that an 8 hour test would be exhausting, especially with what little I know about what is on that exam.

Good luck Bro. A lot of the men in my family are engineers. Some work at Redstone Arsenal. Some at TVA. Many are retired.
