Old camera, so I'd think it is the round lens cutting off some of the light falling on the film.

Don't laugh !! I still have a VHS recorder as well as a VHS/DVD recorder. I also have about 350-400 tapes, some "bought" (pre-recorded), but most are ones that I dubbed from another VCR as much as 33 years ago. Some were movies before they put that copy protection on, others were "adult" content (no protection). Many are ones that I sat and recorded "live" so that I could pause it during the commercials. I have most (maybe all) of "Star Trek: TOS", "Dr. Who" (the original 7 Drs.), "Blake's 7", but mostly movies.

I collect them for nostalgia, not to actually watch them, although tapes with rare content I've transferred to DVD so I can watch it without degrading the original tape.

I grew up going to blockbuster with my dad on the weekends so having the physical boxes to look at and touch is super nostalgic.

Funny you say that, I have a stack of VHS tapes my uncle recorded Dr Who from PBS on back in the day.

Its funny you mention that. I was talking to a buddy at work about how that is something that only existed for part of a generation. It was a big deal, maybe a couple times a month we'd go to the video store (before blockbuster) and the family would rent a movie or two and get some popcorn and cokes. If we were really good kids maybe we got to pick out a movie we could watch after mom and dad went to bed.

My kids won't know what that is like. Looking back it was special.

They used to fly them around here on training flights....didn't seem any louder than most planes.

Or airport was originally built to train B-24 and B-29 crews during WWII and they still use it for training pilots of big planes. United used to train pilots there at one time.

Never heard them taking off if that's what you mean but flying around they didn't seem especially loud even when they'd come in low for landing. Very cool to watch them train cuz they'd have the wings at different angles for various flights.....awesome to see a big plane like that banking and circling about overhead.
