I'm not a car guy. What is that thin bar or line between the two front tires in that blue truck pic above? Seemingly in front of and slightly lower than the axle. It seems like it would be an easily damaged weak point if it's important.

That rod connects the wheels for steering.

Yeah it is kind of a weak point on 4x4s but not a lot you can do. Ideally you'd like it behind the differential but on a 4x4 you have the front driveshaft so there's that.

They do get bent but all-in-all it not really that big of a problem...it is after all a steel bar.

A lot of newer 4x4s use a skid plate.....basically just a big flat plate of steel under there to protect the steering rods. But on older trucks like that there's really no place to attach the bottom of the plate.

Steering linkage ... Not really important, depending on where you want to go!

It looks like the steering link, it connects the steering gearbox to each wheel. See that little shock absorber ( red and white ) connected to it, that keeps the force from hitting a bump the road from damaging the steering gear box or transfer the shock into the steering wheel.
Easily damaged if you don't watch where you're going , but pretty easy to replace if you have a pickle fork.

It put bad-ass in a totally new dimension....
    Count the header pipes. That's a V-10!

And probably a 72 degree block.

It's a hydraulic damper (shock absorber) to prevent the steering wheel from jerking left or right when driving over insane terrain.

And it's called a "steering stabilizer" or "steering damper".

Uh yeah but that's not what he was asking about

The face is blocked by the phone, the hands and the apparently fake and exaggerated breasts and butt. Most chicks want their face in the selfie too.

Also compare that pic to the one with the gal wearing the Dallas Cowboys top. The torso seems too long/tall on the person in the photo I'm talking about. I've known guys like that, long waisted or something. Always had a hard time buying shirts back in the day.

So in a nutshell, face hidden, manly hands, long waist and exaggerated breasts and butt.

There's one like this that shows up at the weekly rock-n-roll car show at the Pavillions in scottsdale , it's built on a '75 C-10 chassis

Thanks all for the explanation of the part on the blue truck. Looking at newer ones, I do see a plate or something there to protect that part.
