The locos are Decapods built in the US by the Baldwin Locomotive Works for Imperial Russia. The order was for 1200 but the Russian revolution broke out and only 857 were ever delivered. Another 200 or so were awaiting delivery or being built, and these were converted to US standards by the USRA for the American war effort during WWI.

The Soviets of course used them for decades, and no doubt added the star, but they were originally built for the Czar.

Jeez. I'm so sick of the morons who push the Moon landing hoax theory. I had relatives who worked on the Space program at the time. What they kept telling me was that there were literaly TENS OF THOUSANDS of people who worked on the program. To do a hoax would have meant that THOUSANDS of people would have to have been in on the lie .... and KEPT their secrets to the grave.

You can't tell me that there would be NO deathbed confession for something that arguably would have gnawed at the conscience of anyone who was honest.

Now do a lot of legitimately classified information go from work to grave? YES. My own father had top level security clearance and he openly stated that he believed in the useful nature of the classification, or if he didn't, there wasn't anything that was so HEINOUS that he felt he would have to spill the beans. Being on your deathbed allows you the ability to clear your conscience without fear of repercussions.

After all, faking a moon landing is NOT the same as having dirt on Hillary. In that instance, it's just like having dirt on the Mafia, if you turn witness, you get suicided.....

I was there about 8 months ago. It cost over $100 to go to the top, to the observation tower. It is so tall that you cannot see the entire building unless you are a good distance away.
