Thumbs up Retro Remington TAC 14

Saw a SHOT show video of a new Remington version of the Mossberg Shockwave. This one has wood furniture and the fore end is the old corn cob version with the hand stop, sling attachment at the end of the mag tube. Kind of a retro version of the old Witness Protection version of the 870 the U.S. Marshals use.

I like the looks of it a lot better than either the Shockwave or the standard Remington TAC 14. They should be available soon. Think I'll get one to keep my Shockwave company.

Thought about it being slick but it looks sweet. Guess it could be checkered.

I like it, but would like it better if it were a 20 ga.

The 12ga isn't bad at all, at least the one I'm shooting isn't but a 20ga shouldn't be far behind.

Something to keep in mind. You can get pretty much the same load for both. The 20ga will actually recoil more because it will usually weigh less than the 12ga. Same load, lighter gun, more felt recoil. The biggest plus for a 20ga, especially when they started with the 3" magnums was a lighter gun than a 12 with the same performance not less recoil.

In the case of the Mossberg Shockwave the 20ga weighs .35lbs less than the 12ga.

You know I look at these and think ... cool would be nice. Then I think but it only holds 5 shots and I think about aiming it to actually hit that intruder. Then i think well my AR pistol will do all that better with the Vortex Strikefire II red dot on it and a 20 round Magpul mag in it.

That may be true but will it look as cool while it's doing it?

In all honesty I don't see my Shockwave or this Remington model being my go to gun for home defense but it's nice to have options.

You be the judge on the coolness.

    FYI, 30 round mag pictured.

It's the 30 round magazine that makes it cool and scary (at least to the left) all at the same time.

I saw that a few days ago and immediately went their web site to buy that wooden grip. Couldn't find it anywhere.

I want it for my 870 SBR Witness Protection clone I made.

Mercy. THAT is what I think of when I hear "sawed-off" shotgun. It looks like a real thumper.

I'm glad Remington finally added a plus one adapter to bring the capacity up to that of the Shockwave, 5+1.

Also, if this is a non-express model then that is great as well. The freedom group express models suck ass.
