SAR-3 record asking price not selling, wonder why?!?!?

Having fun on Gunbroker this evening looking through stuff I could no longer buy if I got into the hobby now.

For our viewing displeasure, and to admit in a capitalist society, the seller has the right to ask any price he or she wants, I give you the latest high on a good old Romanian SAR-3.

WOW, if they get it sold for that price! The SAR-3 is nice, but not that nice.

Probably the color of that toe in the pic is making people weary of the rifles history.

I still have 2 of my Sar's still. I think I sold the Sar1(wildly inaccurate to my taste), Still have the 2 and 3 myself. I did convert the sar 3 to a underfolder though, so it's not original.

    I'm guessing:
"reserve not met" and "buy it now" for $1800

Granted normal inflation would make $600 more reasonable, but I too have problem with getting my mind to accept that knowing what I paid 15 years ago.

WOW, it was over 15 years ago!!! Talk about time flying!!!!!!!!

I'm seeing the $300 minimum bid as well.

That's the starting bid with a reserve
    buy it now is 1800
The old rule of thumb was reserve at about half buy it now
That would put it at 900 to just hit the reserve

    maybe

Could be a lower reserve set up to get bidders in thinking of the old rule of thumb
Maybe even 305 but that way someone who thinks there safely under the reserve is now committed to the purchase
    Kind of doubt that though

hey wanna see a record price? This is in Canada. I have never seen a Nagant revolver in real life. You guys got them all. For some reason nobody imported them up here.

I guess in a few years $1800 will be considered a deal?

This handjob is asking $1200 for a crappy revolver which was selling here in the states just a few years ago for around $100.

My Dealer price on these was between $89 and $100 back in the day.

On the SAR-3 opening topic cost, as a dealer I paid $245 for them on average. Got one order for as little as $225 each and at the end they were up around $285.

Some weekends when aim or sog had a sale I was getting them for $74 delivered.

I don't own a single one now or even a mosin rifle for that matter.
