    PC Battery problem??

I suddenly have a problem with my old Win 7 PC not retaining the time.
When I power it off, it stops remembering the time.

After a good bit of reading I figured out that the problem is probably a dead battery that runs the clock when the power is off.
    It's an E-machines EL1352G.

So, I opened it up to find out what type of battery I'd need.
    And there IS NO BATTERY.

I looked everywhere for the usual round power cell battery in a clip and there just isn't one anywhere.
Anyone ever seen this, or know what to do????

If you can't find a coil cell, maybe your machine uses the old style soldered in type. Look for a thing like this (color may vary):

    Found it.
After some more research I found it was under the hard drive.

As luck would have it, it was a 2032, same as the power cell in my red dot sight.

I did read something about possibly having to do something with the BIOS but I need to read some more on that.
    I know nothing about BIOS.

    Thanks for the help.

The CMOS battery not only keeps time, but also remembers any custom BIOS settings if you ever had reason to change them.

Most people never modify their BIOS settings, so the default configuration is usually fine. So you shouldn't have to do anything special in there unless you have some funky hardware config that needs tweaking or something.

As long as all your hardware devices continue to function normally after you replace that battery, you shouldn't need to worry about it.

You'll be fine just put the battery in and drive on.

And I didn't need to do anything to the BIOS.

The PC time is running correctly.

    Thanks for the help.
