    MFS ammunition is steel jacketed.

So I was curious about this MFS ammunition. I found that the bullet stuck to a magnet. Just to make sure it wasn't the case making it stick i pulled the bullet and stuck it on the magnet. Then curiosity got to me. So I cut one in half. It is a steel jacketed bullet with a copper colour added. I guess I'm not buying any more of this stuff.

Just out of curiosity, is the tip lead or steel, too?

Being mostly steel, and not compressing like lead does when it sets into the lands and grooves, that can't be easy on a barrel....

Probably a good idea not to shoot it at all.

Do you have a photo of the box? I've never heard of MFS.

Yes the tip is lead. I just used a box cutter and slivered off a bunch and it is actually a soft point and the jacket is open at the end. I am not going to be putting this through any of my good guns. I have an old beater i will be feeding this stuff through.

I have my doubts this would even mushroom if using it for hunting.

Steel jackets are very common in military ammunition. They use very soft steel so with the copper on top of it it shouldn't be a problem for your bore. as for expansion you could always shoot a few wet phone books with some gallon jugs behind them and see what you think.
