Another Unabomber? Austin, TX - Exploding Packages

Esperanza Herrera is the 75-year-old woman injured in the explosion at the 6700 block of Galindo Street, according to relatives at the scene, the Post reported. They also said her mother, Maria Moreno, suffered minor injuries, the newspaper said.

The incident happened hours after police responded to a previous package explosion at the 4800 block of Oldfort Hill Drive, killing a teenager and injuring a woman, police have said. LaVonne Mason, co-founder of the Austin Area Urban League, told the Post her grandson was the 17-year-old victim killed Monday morning. The newspaper did not name the grandson.

3:20 p.m. update: A 75-year-old woman was injured after picking up an exploding package outside her Southeast Austin home on Monday in the second blast reported in the city and the third similar incident in two weeks, Austin police said.

Interim Police Chief Brian Manley confirmed that evidence suggested that this bombing was related to two previous blasts from “box-type deliveries” that killed a teenager earlier in the day and a 39-year-old man 10 days ago.

Manley warned the public about receiving unexpected or suspicious-looking deliveries in an “average-size delivery box,” but declined to offer more specifics about the packages to protect the integrity of the investigation.

He said the devices can be detonated by moving or by opening the boxes.

    No apparent motive so far...

Three ‘powerful’ package explosions in Austin that killed 2 are connected, police say

Police said Monday that they believe three packages that exploded at homes and killed two people here are connected, raising fears that a bomber is on the loose in a city that is hosting tens of thousands of people for a world-renowned music and technology festival.
Police and the FBI said they were working fervently to solve the mystery and urged residents to be cautious in approaching packages left at their doorstep unexpectedly. Officials said the packages that exploded did not come through the mail or a standard delivery service.

I can't remember... didn't like his brother turn him in? Recognized his schizophrenic writings from his Manifesto that the New York Times published or something?

Yep. From what I heard there is a connection to two of the victims, so it shouldn't be as hard to figure out who has a vendetta with them.

Austin Likely Facing ‘Serial Bomber,’ Police Chief Says
    https://stream.org/2-injured-4th-rec...texas-capital/
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Fear escalated across Texas’ capital city on Monday after the fourth bombing this month — a blast that was triggered this time by a tripwire, demonstrating what police called a “higher level of sophistication” than the package bombs used in the previous attacks.

Saw something about that the other day but don't recall what the connection was? I thought there was something mentioned about going to the same church and or something about some that used to live at one of the houses targeted. I was wondering if it was one of those cases where you blow up several random victims then blow up the real target

Yeah you are right. But Ted was living in a cabin riding a bike and he had (in his mind) a purpose.
This person/persons in Austin is doing this for terror.

Sorry I was late but I was in a box for help.

    Kinda sounds that way
    There was another found later

    https://www.nytimes.com/2018/03/20/u...nio-fedex.html
AUSTIN, Tex. — The sender of an explosives-laden package that detonated at the FedEx facility in Schertz, Tex., overnight also shipped a second suspicious package, officials at the company confirmed on Tuesday
    .......
Authorities believe that both packages were dispatched from the Austin area and were intended for delivery to addresses in Austin, where four recent explosions have killed two people and injured four others.

So was the second package a bomb too? Couldn't really tell from the article. If they were dropped off at FedEx rather than a drop box there might be video showing who dropped it off. Also he/she/they had to pay for the shipping somehow. Unless it was cash there should be a way to back track the payment scource.

We had someone like this back in 1976, known as the Speedway Bomber. He was finally caught but not after many injuries and if I remember at least on fatality.

    From the article:
The packages were sent from the FedEx facility in Sunset Valley, a small independent city within Austin, a city official confirmed. The second package was turned over to law enforcement, who planned to detonate it harmlessly.
    .............
The bomber seems to be getting a little cocky so maybe they'll catch up to him

Apparently there was video from FedEx. Just saw that the bomber is dead. Haven't heard yet how he died but the police apparently identified and tracked him down last night.

Something to bear in mind, the bomber is dead but he could have shipped more packages yesterday. Kind of a last hurray.

He was a 24 year old white guy. Wonder if he was some kind of Antifa type?

We need to pass legislation to outlaw these bombs. It's all the NBA's (National Bomb Association's) fault. if they hadn't paid their politicians huge amounts of money to protect these things, we wouldn't have to worry about bombers killing people any more.

We need to get the survivors on TV so they can tell their stories so liberals, everywhere, will feel sorry for them and what they've had to go through, that they will be willing to be bused to DC to start a march and protest on the Capitol's lawn.
And, we need to protest the NBA and stop companies from from giving their members all those perks.

It's time to take to the streets and force politicians to come up with common sense bomb controls!!!!

We need to make cities Bomb Free Zones. Only the government and military should be allowed to have bombs. Civilians shouldn't have that right.

And, while we're at it, maybe it's not too late to outlaw murder, too.
