    After today, it's all historical.

    That was pretty cool.

I tried to push the envelope, but found that it was stationery.

Have you heard about the new corduroy pillows? They're making head lines!

    Thank you Steve.

Of the two SMG's in the article I've only spent quality time with the MP40. That example belongs to one of our members and IIRC is built on an Erb tube. I found it an absolute delight to shoot. The rate of fire is fairly slow compared to say an UZI which makes it quite controllable. Weigh keeps recoil to a minimum and I don't recall any issues, magazine related or otherwise. Just a really fun gun. It does suffer from the same problem every other SMG I've shot seems to have which is the mags take a lot longer to load than unload!

When I was in high school (50 years ago) a man in the neighborhood died and his widow gave his PPSh to my buddy who lived next door and asked him to find out what it was worth. Imagine something like that happening today. Having only shot .22 rifles it would have been a shock to us to have fired the PPSh. We did not shoot it for some reason I can't remember. Probably lack of ammo.

My first deployment in '03 my unit helped some infantry dudes by driving them around in our 5-tons for a patrol. We stopped in a market place and the infantry dismounted. We were then shot at many times, the infantry responded and I basically sat behind the driver's wheel looking for the next threat and praying I could get my A2 into action if needed. Once we were all safely back at the compound, the infantry guys showed us what we were being shot at with. It was a PPSh. My heart skipped a beat when they let me handle it. I had never handled one in real life but I started breaking it down super easy. Everything came apart real nice and although most of the blueing (or whatever) was gone the gun itself was in great shape. That is when the infantry guy told me to put it back together. I asked what they were going to do to it. He said it was to be destroyed. I just handed back all the pieces, unassembled, and walked away. It seriously bummed me out and just about broke my heart. I would love to get my hands on one of those for good. Maybe some day.
