I posted the NRA-ILA website on my FB page with the following explanation.

Since Washington's Secretary of State and Supreme Court claim to be legally prohibited from enforcing Washington laws, it becomes incumbent on the rest of us to keep this initiative from being passed. This law is designed to make honest, law abiding citizens into criminals. The initiative does this in a few ways. First, it expands the definition of "assault weapon" to include almost any semi-automatic rifle. I have a M1 Garand that is about 70 years old, was the main rifle issued to our troops in WWII, holds 8 rounds, and weighs about 10 lbs that will now be classified in Washington state as an "assault weapon". It also mandates that all firearms be locked up which prevents then from being available for use if required for self-defense. Last, it criminalizes people who currently lawfully own firearms by raising the age that a person is allowed to own a firearm (with no apparent grandfather clause). An added violation of our rights is the mandatory collection of information on people who own firearms so that Washington can ensure we are adhering to the new, draconian requirements. Since gun control supporters have been unable to ban firearms based on the US and Washington state Constitutions, this bill (like Initiative 594 before it) is designed to put in place laws that are so hard to follow that it will essentially make owning a firearm a felony. Once the previously law abiding gun owner is convicted their firearms can be legally confiscated. We need to stop these laws before innocent people are harmed by these unconstitutional acts.
My post has been shared, once with the explanation, 10 times. 7 times by people I know and then another 3 times by people who know those people. That will get to a few people.

    Pretty much all of it.

I now expect that my state will spend millions of dollars fighting this in the courts. It should never have been on our ballots as it did not follow our laws governing initiatives. It restricts gun ownership so this will not be a concern to our justices as they have already shown. But the show of having a trial will cost us millions.

The only problem with that is they could fire him and put in someone who would enforce it.

You’re right on that, they need a sheriff to say that he won’t enforce the laws they can’t fire Sheriff he’s elected.

I have been seeing this. I will feel better when all the Sheriffs do this. I will feel best when the law is found unconstitutional, though with our justices that is doubtful on a state level.

Wouldn't it be nice that when a law that was passed, and found to be unconstitutional that those who passed the law spend jail time for violating their oath of office and failure to uphold the constitution?!?!?!

There would go 3/4 of Congress and most of everyone in Fed. Govt. agencies (not to mention all those in state governments)....

Does sound nice, though, doesn't it?

I wish them the best of luck against an "overbearing tyrannical government", exactly the thing that the Second Amendment was designed to provide.

Our local sheriffs, in just about all the eastern counties of MD, told our state government the same thing.... Needless to say, this really pissed off most of the state government (many of our Republicans are RINOS, including the Governor).... There aren't enough state police to carry this off.

While it is good that there are Sheriffs out there that will honor their oath to support the Constitution, the law is still on the books and someone else later could decide to enforce it. The Supreme Court needs to issue a ruling in support of the Constitution and against these gun control (arms infringement) laws.
