Washington is Trying To Take Another Step Towards Total Gun Ban

According to this new initiative being proposed all semi-automatic rifles are "assault weapons". Shows how undefined the term "assault weapon" is.

Stretching the already prevalent misuse of the term “assault rifle” to new extremes, I-1639 defines “semiautomatic assault rifle” as, “any rifle which utilizes a portion of the energy of a firing cartridge to extract the fired cartridge case and chamber the next round, and which requires a separate pull of the trigger to fire each cartridge.” This means that any semiautomatic rifle whatsoever, from an AR-15 to your grandfather’s tube-fed .22LR squirrel gun would be considered an “assault rifle” and subject to severe restriction.

California liberalism/Communism has taken a firm hold in Washington. I hope sane people start putting these Communists in their rightful places.....prison.

It looks like none of them will stop until bullets start flying in their direction. They are surely doing their best to make this happen.

This would completely break my heart if this ever happened. I have been dreaming of retiring to my home state after my career in the Army is over and these fucking asshats are going to fuck it up for me.

It should be blocked from the ballot and those sponsoring it arrested on treason against the constitution charges.

Come to Georgia, we are NFA friendly. Several suppressor makers here, AAC being but one of them. SBR's, suppressors, full autos all legal here. If you want ocean there's always Savanna.

Our Secretary of State does not support our Constitution and would like nothing more than for this initiative to be voted into law. I am hoping that as this initiative also violates Washington State law that she invalidates it. Unfortunately that will just mean it is put off a year or two.

I heard this yesterday on the way home. I have to call the SoS's office again and tell them that it is unfortunate that she refused to do her job and had to let the court confirm how outside our laws this initiative was. It won't matter, but I still feel I need to do it. I will probably write to my state Reps and Senator about it as well to ensure they know that our SoS is not upholding Washington's constitution or laws and that something needs to be done about it.

Interesting how MIcrosoft high-level people are funding this move.....

Amazing. The initiative does not even begin to follow Washington state law. First the SoS says that it is not within her job description to do anything but put the initiative on the ballot. Now, the Supreme Court for Washington says that the courts do not have the authority to stop a initiative that did not follow Washington state law from being put on the ballot. Why, then, do we even have a law that says how an initiative will be processed and put to the voters to determine if it should be put on the ballot. I have to wonder how the SoS and the Supreme Court would have ruled had this been a pro-gun measure. This has got to be one of the most egregious miscarriages of power I have ever seen.
