    Thumbs up SIG 225-A1 Compact

Just saw an article on this one in the latest American Rifleman. As I recall there was some kind of SIG single stack imported maybe 10 years ago, used German police guns or something. Can't remember the model number but I do seem to remember that they weren't real expensive and I wished I'd got one. Also don't recall if they were full size pistols or not?

Anyway, this 225-A1 made me think of those old trade-ins. I've got an M11A1 and I like it a lot. About the only thing I'd like is if the grip wasn't quite so thick. Being a single stack this 225-A1 should remedy that complaint. Like the M11 this 225 has no rail or front cocking serrations, both of which are pluses in my book.

Who pays MSRP? I can't think of any firearms where I looked at the MSRP and thought, "Boy I sure want to pay that price".

The street price in my area, Phoenix, is at or just above $700 for a Sig 225-A1.

It all scales. Won't do anything more than a Glock for $530 ish.

Bought a Sig P239 for my daughter probably 12 years ago. Single stack 9mm. When I handed it to her for the first time, we were at a 30 yard range playing with .22 rifles shooting at a dueling tree with I think 6 inch plates. She decided to shoot it there anyway. I turned to load one of the rifles, and heard bang-tink, bang-tink followed by "I LIKE THIS". My crazy kid shooting a new pistol at well beyond pistol range and having no problem hitting a 6 inch circle. Amazing pistol.
